Bailey and Cato moved into their new location earlier this year

If you are searching for some awesome soul food in the Nashville area, then look no further than Bailey and Cato. It’s located about 10 minutes north of downtown Nashville at 1130 Gallatin Pike S, Madison, TN 37115. Because the food is so good, it always has a line–except for when it’s closed on Mondays. When visitors come, they not only eat food while they’re there, they also order several plates to take home.

Bailey and Cato Dining Room

Bailey and Cato’s roots stretch back to around 30 years ago, when the Bailey and Cato families would come together for family reunions (titled the “Bailey and Cato Family Reunion”). Because they enjoyed their family reunion meals, they decided to open a restaurant in 2000 with the same name. Although they moved into a new location earlier this year, the food is just as good as it’s always been.

My friends and I with the owner Derrick Bailey

Derrick Bailey and the entire team of chefs put their soul into each meal; everything they cook is worth trying.

Weekly Menu at Bailey & Cato

It’s worth knowing that each day the restaurant has a slightly different menu. Since we went on Friday, we had the following entree options: Fried Chicken, Ribs, Ox Tail, and Catfish. I decided to get Ribs–which I’d recommendalong with a side of spaghetti, candied yams, and cornbread.

One of my friends got the catfish plate, which they also said was delicious. Another, who got the chicken plate, said, “this is the best fried chicken I have ever had in my entire life.”

However, you don’t have to take our word for it, just do what Derrick Bailey suggests, “you have to come try Bailey & Cato out for yourself!” #JustEat there. You can visit their website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram to learn more.
