Just Eats launched during the summer of 2018 when the founder, Jasmine, was thinking about ways to support and promote local, Black owned businesses in gentrifying cities across the state. A lover of food and community, the summer before her senior year of college, she gathered a group of friends in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville and they began Just Eating across TN in August 2018.

Since 2018, Just Eats has featured 50+ restaurants (bakeries + ice cream shops included), three festivals, small businesses at Black business vendor fairs/markets, a student discount day in partnership with BJ&S BBQ in Knoxville, and a service opportunity at a community garden. Today, contributors #JustEat across the state in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and the Tri-Cities.

The map above features many of the people who’ve shared photos, captions, and stories on amazing POC restaurant owners and their local restaurants across the state. Just Eats wouldn’t be possible without a team!

We want you to Just Eat with us! Use the hashtag #JustEatsTN to show us where you’re eating across the state–whether we’ve been there or not, we want to see how you’re Just Eating!

On select Fridays throughout the year, look out for the #FoodJusticeFridays series, which features posts on Food Justice on Just Eats’ Facebook and Instagram.
